The Structure of the BABOK Guide

The BABOK Guide consists of 456 pages (excluding appendices). It has 11 chapters that must be studied thoroughly for the ECBA, CCBA, or CBAP exams.

The chapters can be grouped as follows:

  1. Group 1: Introduction and Business Analysis Key Concepts.

  2. Group 2: The core content—6 chapters covering the Knowledge Areas.

  3. Group 3: Underlying Competencies and Business Analysis Techniques.

Chapter 10 details 50 techniques. Instead of reading it all at once, try dividing the techniques into smaller groups and intermixing them with other chapters.

For example, study one chapter and then review five techniques before moving on to the next chapter. This approach makes it easier to understand the references to techniques in the core chapters.
