When working on a new initiative, some stakeholders may be interacting with a business analyst for the first time.
They might not fully understand your role or what to expect from you. Yet, as a business analyst, your success depends on building and maintaining regular and effective collaboration with them.
It’s important not to assume that everyone is familiar with what a business analyst does or what your responsibilities cover.
In fact, I often find that when I tell people I’m a business analyst, the response is usually, “Cool! That sounds interesting! What exactly do you do?”
To avoid confusion, set clear expectations and establish a solid foundation for effective collaboration by covering these areas:
Clearly explain what you will be doing.
Outline the results they can expect from your work.
Specify the type of communication and cooperation you’ll need from them.
Clarify the types of questions or problems you can assist with.
