IIBA Core Exams: Structure and Format

Are you planning to earn your IIBA certification? Here's what you need to know about the three core IIBA exams—ECBA, CCBA, and CBAP.


Key Differences


Each exam has specific eligibility requirements, based on your business analysis experience and the number of professional development hours you've completed.


Exam Overview


  • ECBA (Entry Certificate in Business Analysis)

    • Duration: 1 hour

    • Questions: 50 multiple-choice

    • Question Types: Primarily knowledge-based (as covered in our previous posts).

  • CCBA (Certification of Capability in Business Analysis)

    • Duration: 3 hours

    • Questions: 130 multiple-choice

    • Question Types: Mostly scenario-based, with some knowledge-based questions.

  • CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional)

    • Duration: 3.5 hours

    • Questions: 120 multiple-choice

    • Question Types: Primarily case-study-based, with some scenario-based questions.
